David Shook

Agave Festival is excited to present the inimitable David Shook, poet, translator, editor and founder of @phoneme_media - a press dedicated to world literature for which he has translated books by Mario Bellatin, Teri Lopez Mills and others.

David will be appearing at Agave Festival on Sunday, June 9th with the great poet Victor Teran with whom he edited the book, “Like a New Sun: New Indigenous Mexican Poetry”. Shook is also the author of “Our Obsidian Tongues” a fantastic collection of poems that has been translated into Arabic, French, Isthmus Zapotec, Kumamji, and many other languages. Additionally, David’s writing has appeared in The Believer, the Daily Beast, the Guardian, Hyperallergic, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Poetry, Poetry Review and World Literature Today.
