Mark Covey

Mark Covey is a very accomplished musician, having performed extensively in the U.S. and in Europe. As a guitarist, he has performed alongside the Las Vegas Philharmonic as well as with the Arizona Opera. He has been a finalist in many competitions including the Classics Alive Young Artist Competition and the Young Texas Artists Competition. He has been hailed by Opera Today as "a guitar virtuoso." In 2016, Mark released his debut album Glory of Guitar, which includes works ranging from the renaissance to modern masterpieces. Mark has studied privately with some of the very best in the field, including San Antonio's David Underwood as well as the internationally renowned American classical guitar icon, Christopher Parkening. Additionally, Mark has performed in masterclasses with other internationally acclaimed guitarists such as Pepe Romero, Angel Romero, Andrew York, and Judicael Perroy to name a few. Mark earned his B.A. in Music degree from Pepperdine University, and continued his graduate studies at University of California Santa Barbara where he received his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees. He wrote his Doctoral Treatise on the art songs for voice and guitar of the vihuela composers of 16th century Spain.
