David Keller

Agave Festival Marfa is excited to present David Keller, Senior Project Archaeologist at the Center for Big Bend Studies and author of “In the Shadow of the Chinatis: A History of Pinto Canyon in the Big Bend” and “Below the Escondido Rim: A History of the 02 Ranch”.

This year David will read from “In the Shadow of the Chinatis” a book that combines narratives of history, natural history and archaeology to tell the story of one our region’s most extraordinary landscapes. In particular, the book traces the history of the Prieto family, who ranched Pinto Canyon for many years and examines the transition from ranching to the scenic and scientific uses that shape our understanding of the land today.
